Tattoo Photography
If you’ve got a lot of tattoos, then you are probably pretty well versed in the art of the photo shoot that comes afterward. Not of you showing off your sweet tat on Instagram, but of the artist desperately trying to get a good photo of the work they’ve just done. Certain factors can make this extremely complicated, the most common being lighting issues. The first photo we have here is of a tattoo by resident artist Tasha Grey, taken indoors at her tattoo station. The second is of the same tattoo in natural outdoor lighting. Note that the black rose looks far less red and irritated in natural, white light, but the red one looks more vibrant in indoor lighting. If you combined the vibrancy of the images from the separate photos, it would present you with the most true version of how the tattoo looks in real life. But alas, like selfies, it is nearly impossible to take the perfect tattoo photo. For our part, we’re just grateful our clients let us try!
