Lighthouse Tattoo has long been a fantastic launchpad for talented young artists. A demanding teacher, coupled with a diverse clientele yields an excellent proving ground for those with the dedication to persevere. The results have been documented: Lighthouse Tattoo creates marvelous young tattoo artists and the latest of these is Matt Steele.

Matt’s work has taken a definite stride toward traditional and neotraditional, though his blackwork has become something of a ‘draw’ as well (we’re terrible at puns). with the challenges he’s faced thus far and the progress he’s made in spite of these obstacles, we expect great things from Matt! You should too!

While his foray into tattooing started over two years ago, circumstances existed that made it difficult for Matt to progress consistently. Though he faced many disheartening setbacks, Matt diligently pressed forward, belying a quiet strength in an otherwise unassuming personality. His mentor, Will Wood, noticed this and continued to work with Matt through these setbacks. Wildly, with Covid-19 came a resolution to those same obstacles and time had come for Matt to grow into his own.
